What Are The Advantages Of LANOff?
LANOff can be used to monitor network connectivity between up to five computers
allowing a combination of computers to control the others. You can define when
the functions are activated and get the opportunity to cancel shutdown on individual
computers. There is flexibility in the timing. An open program will not stop
computer shutdown. A readily accessible history of use is available. It can
apply to all users making configuration easy and consistent.

Can LANOff Be Installed Over An Existing Version?
Yes, there are no known problems installing over the top of an
existing installation. You will be given the opportunity to either
keep or discard the configuration file when upgrading. The existing
configuration file will be copied to LANOffM.old for the main
program and LANOffS.old for the slave program. The configuration
files from versions prior to version 3.0 are not compatible with
version 3.0 and above, after upgrading from a version prior to
3.0 the main and slave programs will need configuring.
Does LANOff Work On Both 32bit And 64 bit Operating Systems?
LANOff is designed to work on WIndows 2000 Service Pack 4 (32bit),
Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 1 (32 and 64 bit),
Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Release 2 Service Pack 1 (32bit
and 64 bit), Windows XP (32bit), WIndows Vista - all variants
(32bit and 64 bit). Windows NT, 95, 98 & ME are NOT supported.
Are The Server And Client From Previous Versions Compatible
With Version 4.0 Main And Slave Programs?
Versions prior to version 3.1 are incompatible because the data
sent and received between them is in a different format. The main
and slave programs should always be upgraded at the same time.
Are The Slave Programs From AllOff, CPUOff, DownOff And
KeyOff Compatible With LANOff?
No they are incompatible because the data sent uses program specific
addressing.
Can LANOff Be Used On A System Running A DHCP Server?
Yes provided you use the computer names but if you use LANOff with
IP addresses the computers with LANOff Master or LANOff Slave
installed must have the IP addresses set to fixed on the DHCP
server.
Why Does LANOff Stop Without Shutting Down The Local Computer?
This could be caused by a firewall program blocking the operation
of LANOff in which case add LANOff to the list of acceptable
programs.
Why Does LANOff Stop Without Shutting Down The Remote
Computer?
This could be caused by a firewall program blocking the operation
of the LANOff Slave or communications with LANOff Slave on the
local or remote computer in which case add LANOff to the list of
acceptable programs on the remote and or local computer.
How Much Network Bandwidth Does Communications To The
Slave(s) Use?
Very little - approximately 4KB/Sec per slave
How Much Memory Does The Program Use?
This is dependent on the operating system but will be between 3MB
and 8MB for the master and between 1.5 and 4MB for the slave.
