General
Both the main program and the slave are configured
via a configuration screen which enables the way the programs
work to be changed to suit specific circumstances. The configuration
files from versions prior to version 3.0 are not compatible with
version 3.0 and above. The installer moves old configuration files
to LANOffM.old (main program) and LANOffS.old (slave program).
If out of range parameters are chosen the changed data can not
be saved. When
the configuration screen is opened program operation is inhibited
(apart from communications to and from the slaves) until it is closed
when the program will be reset if any parameter changes have
been saved. Saving configuration changes needs administrator
privileges.
Port Allocation And Conflicts
The main program transmits on one port and receives on a separate
port for each remote computer. This means Remote Computer 1 is
received on the RX port set for the main program, Remote Computers
2, 3 and 4 are received on the RX port +1, +2 and +3 respectively.
If a conflict occurs on one of the ports then then all ports are
changed by altering the RX and TX Ports. The Slave on Remote Computer
1 SLave has the TX Port set to the same as the main program RX
Port, Remote Computer 2 Slave has the TX Port set to the main program
RX Port + 1, Remote Computer 3 Slave has the TX Port set to the
main program RX Port + 2 and Remote Computer 4 Slave has the TX
Port set to the main program RX Port + 3. The Slave RX Port is
set to the same as the main program TX Port. If there are any port
clashes one of the installations will give details. if you do change the port remember to change ports on all the computers using LANOff.
