Below are the contents of a sample history log file showing
a small selection of entries. The purpose of this file is to store details of the last readings saved plus the cost data. The type of Break Point is indicated by a letter in front of the Break Point figure - F = Fixed and D = Daily Rate. A Fixed Discount 2 is indicated by the letter F in front of the Discount 2 figure. This file is called EnCalcEU_H.log and can be found in the program's log directory (normally c:\Program Files\JSutils\EncalcEU\Log), The log file shows the program name and version at start up. It can be viewed and if required edited using any suitable text editor such as Notepad (do not use word processing programs such as Microsoft Word). Ensure that word wrapping is off when viewing the log file to stop any strange effects due to word wrapping with narrow windows. This log is in csv format and can be imported into spreadsheet programs such as Excel. It is important the format of this log is maintained. If the history log file is missing or corrupted the program will create a new one automatically on start up. There is only limited space in the date field so dates containing the full month will be truncated.
When the program is upgraded existing history log files are archived. The archive files are stored in the same directory as the main history log file using the file naming convention EnCalcEU_H_<year><month><day>_z.log where z is a number starting at 1 allowing multiple files to be archived on a single day.
