DownOff monitors the average download rate and initiates computer shutdown if the download rate has been below a specified percentage for a preset time. It can also beused to shutdown a remote computer. DownOff supports all the normal shut down modes. DownOff is part of the JSutils group of software utilities which have a theme of energy conservation. To find more energy and money saving ideas check out Practical Home Energy Saving.
Uses of DownOff include managing large file downloads from the internet (either HTTP or FTP) and large file transfers over a network, shutting down the computer when the download has completed. It can be started via the Windows Task Scheduler, on start up or manually at the same time as a download is initiated. DownOff is a great little utility for saving energy by making sure a computer shuts down when it has finished an unattended download.
