Version 5.1 - Released 03-April-2008
Adds support for Standby mode. Maximum CPU monitor delay changed to 1800 seconds.
Stopped configuration screen resizing. Now minimises to system tray only if
minimised when shutdown activated. Fixed bug where minimising test mode causes
run time error on timeout. Fixed bug where program didn't resume after hibernate.
Version 5.0 - Released 31-January-2008
Now minimises to system tray (the default run mode) and supports domain
name addressing for communications with the slave program. Restore
button disabled for non admin users. Exit button disabled in shutdown
mode. Configuration file now correctly backed up when reinstalling
version 1.2 and later. Run minimised now correctly resumes on cancel
shut down. Communications to Slave improved. Desktop shortcut no longer
installed by default. Minor improvements to error handling.
Version 4.4 - Released 28-November-2007
Now correctly removes the Start Up Group when upgrading or changing the
installation. No longer supports a Quick Launch icon and installs for
all users. Log file date format made consistent throughout the log
file. Configuration file can only be edited by users with administrator
permissions. Improvements made to some error messages and error handling.
Test button inhibited in shutdown mode.
Version 4.3 - Released 15-August-2007
Added hibernate support to the shutdown options. Moved log file to it's
own directory to improve compatibility with Vista. Test button now
inhibited in shutdown mode. Opening the Configuration screen from the
main program no longer causes lost communications to slave. Fixed a
bug where one of the files did not always register properly on Vista.
Minor format improvements to configuration screen, error handling (including
a couple of text errors) and log file format. Help updated, minor changes
to licence. The CPU Load is now cleared when the Test or Reset buttons
are clicked.
Version 4.2 - Released 28-May-2007
Fixes a bug where a run time error can occur in shutdown mode if the
Config button clicked. Improvements made to the processor load processing.
Program no longer crashes if the log file becomes corrupted while the
program is running. Log file only shows processor load or communications
status when log level set to Full. Minor changes made to log file format.
Program default values corrected. Help updated. Improvements made to
configuration screen error checking. If the program is set to run minimised
it now switches to visible run on top in shutdown mode. Minor cosmetic
changes made to the main screen. Various minor improvements to error
handling. Clicking Reset on the main program now resets the slave program.
Version 4.1 - Released 14-March-2007
Fixes a bug where the program could freeze if there is a CPU read error.
Fixes a bug where trying to start multiple instances of the program
with the program set to always run on top caused the error pop up to
open beneath the main program window of the first instance. Removed
need for the slave to have a licence code. Fixes a bug where a corrupted
log file causes a run time error if the log file becomes corrupted
while the program is running. Log file now shows date created for new
log files. Program now always runs on top during the shut down period.
Version 4.0 - Released 15-January-2007
No longer needs psshutdown to work. Improved network resilience via the
use of a slave program on the remote computer. Now has a configuration
screen so it is no longer necessary to edit the configuration file
manually. Corrected Common Startup & Quick Start shortcut names.
Corrected support url in add/remove programs tab. Now correctly removes
old kniss.htm file when upgrading from versions prior to 3.1. Corrected
URL on Registration form. Various minor improvements to logging. Various
cosmetic changes to main screen.
Version 3.5 - Released 9-August-2006
The program now needs to be registered before it can be used, the new
About form shows the licence details and program version. The program
name and version are written to the log file on start up for log levels
2 and 3. The version number is no longer shown on the main screen.
The help has been simplified and a number of errors corrected following
user feedback. The program no longer defaults to 'run on top', this
can still be enabled via the configuration file.
Version 3.1 - Released 21-March-2006
It is no longer possible to run multiple instance of CPUOff. Icons have
been updated to the current style and a logo added to the program main
screen. THe configuration file Config.ini has been renamed to CPUOff.ini.
The program version now appears on the main screen and is written to
the log file if the log level is set to 3. The licence has had some
minor modification to bring it into line with other programs. From
version 3.1 onwards It is no longer possible to run the installer if
the program is running.
Version 3.0 - Released 2-February-2006
Adds configurable CPU load averaging to deal better with variable and
intermittent loads. The uninstaller now removes all installed and generated
files from the root directory. Adds improved error checking of Config.ini
file. Adds a check to make sure psshutdown exists. Installer graphics
updated. Remote shutdown without local shutdown now works properly.
Program no longer runs using default values if the configuration file
is missing or corrupted.
