What Are The Advantages Of AllOff Over The Features Built
Into Windows?
You can define when the functions are activated - either after a fixed delay or a fixed time and get the opportunity to cancel
shutdown rather than it just happening. There is more flexibility in the timing.
AllOff can also shut down one remote computer at the same time. The program
will not be fooled by a stuck key or mouse button. Optionally an open program will not stop computer shutdown. It is also possible to set a fixed shutdown time, either independently or in conjunction with the other options. A readily accessible
history of use is available. It can apply to all users making configuration easier
and more consistent. CPU level detection, keyboard and mouse detection plus fixed time shutdown can be enabled or disabled as required. CPU load monitoring is averaged making it suitable for handling short term variations in CPU load.
Which Operating Systems Does AllOff Support?
AllOff is designed to work on WIndows 2000 Service Pack 4,
Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Service Pack 1,
Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Release 2 Service Pack 1, Windows XP including Service Packs 1, 2 and 3, WIndows Vista including Service Packs 1 and 2 and Windows 7. Windows NT, 95, 98 & ME are NOT
supported.
Does AllOff Work On Both 32bit And 64 bit Operating Systems?
AllOff is a 32 bit executable that is compatible with both 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems.
Does AllOff Record My Keystrokes?
No AllOff only detects the fact a key has been operated not which key has been pressed.
Can Remote Shutdown Be Used On A System Running A DHCP Server?
Yes provided you use the computer names but if
you use AllOff with IP addresses the computers with AllOff or
AllOff Slave installed must have the IP addresses set to fixed
on the DHCP server. This point only applies if the slave program
is used.
Are There Any Issues Using AllOff on WIndows Vista With User Account Control Turned On?
There are no known issues when UAC is enabled on Vista.
Can AllOff Be Installed Over An Existing Version?
Yes, there are no known problems installing over the top of an
existing installation. To keep the default settings
do not allow the configuration file to be overwritten when prompted. The existing configuration file will be
copied to AllOff.old. The only exception is when
downgrading to an earlier version of the program,
in this case uninstall the old program first.
Why Does AllOff Stop Without Shutting Down The Local Computer?
This could be caused by a firewall program blocking the operation
of AllOff in which case add AllOff to the list of acceptable
programs.
Why Does AllOff Stop Without Shutting Down The Remote
Computer?
This could be caused by a firewall program blocking the operation
of the AllOff Slave or communications with AllOff on the local
or remote computer in which case add AllOff to the list of acceptable
programs on the remote and or local computer.
Why Does The Computer Hibernate Before Before AllOff
Can Operate?
This is usually because the computer is set to hibernate in the
operating system - check Power Options from the control panel.
Why Does The Computer Go Into Standby Before Before AllOff
Can Operate?
This is usually because the computer is set to go to Standby in the operating
system - check Power Options from the control panel.
Are The Slave Programs From CPUOff, DownOff, KeyOff And
LANOff Compatible With AllOff?
No they are incompatible because the data sent uses program specific
addressing.
How Much Network Bandwidth Does Communications To The Slave Use?
Very little - approximately 4KB/Sec.
How Much Memory Does The Program Use?
This is dependent on the operating system and program state but will
be between 1.2MB and 7MB.
